and yes, we are that sure!
Are you looking for consistency, inspiration, guidance, feedback and support on your creative journey? Then you are in the right place!
Brave Brushes Studio is an online art studio and community for amateur artists and urban sketchers.
The library is a collection of lessons on gouache, watercolors and alcohol-based markers. We add new lessons every month. The library also has an archive of Julia Henze's Skillshare classes, live workshops and PDF tutorials.
This is where you get to sketch with us in real time, ask your questions as you sketch, and meet other members of Brave Brushes Studio. These monthly sessions are recorded and added to the resource library.
We have a Facebook group in which community members post their art projects, interact with each other, ask their questions and find sketching buddies. It is a great way to get support, encouragement and inspiration.
These are monthly topics for focused practice. Each month we practice an aspect of urban sketching (proportions, textures, perspective, color theory etc.) and guide you towards improved technique. These lessons are exclusive to Brave Brushes Studio.
Face-to-face time with Julia Henze. Get feedback on your artwork and recommendations for practice. Ask any questions about techniques, sketching supplies, or anything else. Join live or watch the reply later.
When you join Brave Brushes Studio, you get immediate access to our dedicated website: monthly adventures, class archive, workshop replays, recordings of live sessions. Access any time and work at your own pace.
I came into Brave Brushes to better learn perspective and shadow work to enhance my drawing skills and begin my journey into urban sketching. Julia gives expert, detailed, critiques of students’ artwork that is extremely valuable to the learning process.
Brave Brushes is organized into detailed lessons, videos, Q & A’s, and live painting sessions that give many opportunities to practice what is presented. Further feedback can be found within the Brave Brushes community where everyone cheers each other’s progress in their art journey, wherever they may be on their learning curve.
I believe the lessons and all things offered within Brave Brushes can easily be used by so many no matter where they may be in their art journey. It is a place for exploration and practice and Julia gives so many opportunities for a student to go through the material at their own pace. There is a variety of learning materials and each builds on techniques learned in previous lessons, building a strong foundation for your art process.
In just a few weeks, I have seen a tremendous change in the way I go about sketching and painting. I am applying new techniques and gaining great results. I am so excited to be part of this wonderful community that Julia and Anna have created. It is the best gift I have given myself!
Explore, practice, and enjoy the process!

If you are an absolute beginner, you may find our lessons a bit complicated (but anything is complicated in the beginning), but you should still be able to do them. If you are a professional artist, this membership is not for you. We’ve got nothing to teach you!
You can cancel at any time, hassle-free. No hard feelings!
Once you subscribe, you get access to all our content straight away: the entire library of classes, pdfs, monthly adventures, recordings of live events and webinars.
Let’s be very clear here: no, you can’t. You will lose access to the Brave Brushes Studio website and its content when you cancel your membership. You can always come back and join the Studio later.
